Energy gels are a concentrated source of carbohydrates that are designed to provide a quick and easy energy boost during exercise. They are typically made with a blend of carbohydrates, sugar, and electrolytes, which can help to quickly replenish the body's energy stores and prevent fatigue.
Energy gels are a popular choice for endurance athletes, such as runners, cyclists, and triathletes. They can also be used by people who are simply looking for a quick and easy way to get a boost of energy.
Energy gels provide a readily available carbohydrate source for our body to use as fuel. They're also loaded with other performance protecting enhancing dietary components, such as electrolytes and certain vitamins, that can help you perform at your best.
Our body can effectively absorb around 60g of carbohydrates per hour. Our gels provide 25g of carbohydrates per serving. You could have one every 30 minutes then if you look at it that way, however starting off with one per hour and seeing how that impacts your performance would be a good start!
That depends on how long you intend to train for, how intense you're training and what your training environment is like, but one to two gels every hour is a great start!
Energy gels typically contain electrolytes, such as sodium, potassium, and magnesium. These electrolytes are lost through sweat during exercise, so it is important to replenish them to prevent dehydration and fatigue.
